Where can I buy a horse?

Hi I live in York, PA and I'm trying to buy a horse. Its my first time and I'm not that skilled yet in riding but I'm looking to find I horse that can do the basics like trotting, jumping, and cantering. I've been trying to find horses online but don't know what websites to look for a horse. Also I don't know if the website is good for buying them and is actually real not a fraud. Please help me find good websites and places to buy a horse in PA!

You need to be in a barn with a good trainer to guide you and help you. Don't even think of buying if you don't have someone experienced to help you look-you WILL end up buying a horse that someone is getting rid of for a reason.

Take lessons, lease first, then buy. But step one is finding a barn you like, with people there that you'll enjoy being around and learning from, with a good trainer who does what YOU want to do - western, english, dressage, eventing, hunters, jumpers, or a combo of one or more of the above.

You don't really "buy" horses online. You need to go out, try a lot of different horses, get a prepurchase exam at the very least if you get your search narrowed down, have a trainer or an experienced friend go with you to give input, etc.

Look on the bulletin board at your local tack and feed stores, visit barns, go to local shows, ask other horse people if they know of any prospective mounts. Talk to your trainer.

P.S.- Jumping isn't "basic". You need to have a good, strong foundation and seat first to do it right and to be fair to the horse - able to 2 point without stirrups for several minutes, able to walk, trot, canter in both directions( with and without stirrups) and STOP when you want to, without excessive use of aids, at a bare minimum before you jump over anything but a log on the trail.

  • i did some research and a bit of review. the truth is a large entity, larger than a human and you just cant get scammed buying one cos in purchasing, it will so need that you visiting the site holding horses or the particular horse before payment comes in, to add there are many factors to consider in buying the horse, like it's health state, age, breeding capacity etc. so i'll mean ur reading a bit about horses. there are e-books on horses as well as info on the net on how to purchase a horse. just take your time. you may consider going with someone who knows fine horses when he or she sights them. i wish i had a horse!

What song is your guilty pleasure?

Also give your age along with the answer.

Mine is Burnin' Up by Jonas Brothers.
I am a 20 year old girl. But what bothers me the most is that I am more of an alternative rock person. I have NEVER liked pop and yet...sigh!

Anyway whats yours?
